Thursday’s Night Market/ Introduction

My name is Guadalupe Gutierrez, and no I don’t go by anything shorter, although most people just call me Lupe for short. I’m from Ventura ,California until now I though it was a pretty big city but apparently it is not so big, because no one knowns where it is. Growing up in Ventura I learned to love the ocean, because it is so close. When I am home you can always find me at the beach, either I am swimming, running, or just hanging out with my friends there. Chico is the complete opposite from Ventura, there’s no beaches here and there’s like twenty Dutch Bros here which I never heard off until I got to Chico. Although Chico is so different from my hometown, I think it’s such beautiful place to live and I know that I will learn to love it. I’m ready to start my new adventure and I know that Chico is a great place to start this adventure.
I am the oldest of three children, I have a sister who is just one year younger than me, and a younger brother who is four years younger than me. Although we always fight and annoy each other I do miss them. Seeing them everyday to not being able to see them until Thanksgiving is going to be really hard for me. I also live with my two amazing parents, who are the most important people in my life. If it wasn’t for my parents support I wouldn’t be here today writing this blog. I owe everything I am and have to my parents, they shaped me into the person I am today. They always encourage to follow my dreams no matter how big and when it came to attending college there was no exception. Both of my parents migrated to the United States for a better life, they sacrificed everything for me and my siblings, I am so thankful for that. My parents are the most hard-working people I know, although they do not have a lot of money they always made sure my siblings and me always had everything we needed and even spoiled us a bit. They have taught me that most important things I know today, the value of hard work and a great education. My parents didn’t attend college and me attending college is such a big deal for them, I am not just here to further my education, I’m also here to show my parents that all their sacrifices did pay off.
Besides my family, I spent a lot of my time with my friends and my two cats: Toby and Luna. My friends and I are really close, we shared everything from food, clothes, to laughs. I am especially close to my best friend, we been together since six grade and I love her to death. Like most teenagers me and my friends never have money, so we usually always hang out at the beach because it’s free. We always go hikes too, movie nights and bomb fires are also pretty common things in our friend group. We also have an obsession with sushi, Kibo Sushi that is our to go place. The people who work there know our name because we are always there. My friends are also first generation college students and I am so proud of them. Although I miss them so much I know that they are doing great things.
For my first travel blog I decided to go to the farmers market. I decided to go there because it’s close to where I live; it’s like a ten minute walk. Also when my mom calls me she always tells me I need to eat more fruits and vegetables, so I though this would be the perfect opportunity to buy fruits and veggies and try something new. When we first got there it was a bit overwhelming there was so many stands. We first walked around and just looked, then we found a fruit stand that had samples for us to try. We tried the peaches and watermelon, both were really good but I only bought the peaches because I did not want to carry a watermelon all the way back to my room. I also bought a bag a of apples, you can never go wrong with apples. I usually have my apples with peanut butter, but one of my friends told me that apples are also good with almond butter. I never had almond butter but lucky for me as we were walking around, we found a stand that sold almond butter. I bought it which was brave of me because I never had tried it and I am a pretty picky eater. I ended up really liking it and once I finish it I will definitely be going back for more. I also bough sunflowers for my room which is pretty empty right now. I got four sunflowers for just seventy-five cents which I think is a pretty good deal. Although it was dark when we got there already was still pretty hot and we also walked there which made it worse. We saw many people drinking lemonade, so we decided to get some too to cool down. The lemonade stand was pretty cool it was shaped like a lemon and they had so many opinions. My friends didn’t have any money so I ended up spending fifth teen dollars on lemonade , which is a lot for just lemonade in my option. Next time we go I am bringing my water bottle for sure. Overall it was a pretty good experience and I will definitely be going again. But next time I will be making sure that we go earlier because when we went it was dark and some of the stands were starting to clean up. Also it was hard to take pictures in the dark and I really don’t like walking in the dark. I heard that there is also a farmers market on Saturday mornings, I will probably check thIMG_56241[82]at out too.
