Saturday Night At The Creek

One of the main reasons why I picked Chico State to further my education was because the campus is so beautiful. So when we were instructed to explore Chico’s campus I was so excited because there is so much beautiful places to go. Since the first time I visited the campus about a year ago, I was amazed by the fact that there’s a creek that runs through it. So I picked the creek to explore for this blog since it’s one of my favorite place on campus. I went to the creek on Saturday Night which was probably a bad idea because I had to walk there, when I could of easily went during the week when I had gaps between my classes. But it was pretty empty when I was there, I was able to take pictures without people staring at me, which was a good thing.

If you want a place to sit down and relax the creek is the perfect place. It’s so peaceful just listening to the sound of the water running will make you de-stress for a while. While I was there I saw a girl reading her book and I am thinking of doing that next time I go there.  The creek is such a good place to do homework or just hang out with friends. When I visited it me and my friends had a great time. After a stressful week it was nice to just sit there and relax. Although my two friends did had a hard time getting down to the creek because they were all wearing sandals. If you are going down to the creek it is best to wear sneakers because there is a lot dirt and you do have to go down little hills. Also I don’t recommend going at night because there is a lot of mosquitos and you probably will get bit and it also gets pretty dark.

Visiting the creek made me realized that I do take the small things for granted. I did not know that by just visiting this place I would feel such at peace. Sometimes you just need to look around and take it all in, and the creek is the perfect place to do this. Sometimes self care is not face masks and bubble baths, sometimes it’s taking a walk and watching the sunset with friends, while hearing the sound of water running. I know that sounds corny but this experience really help me de-stress and enjoy the little things. It also made me realize that I made the right choice when picking a college, Chico State is truly beautiful.
